Top Naxal `commander` arrested in Gadchiroli

An alleged top Naxal commander from Chhatisgarh has been apprehended in a swift operation in Maharashtra`s Gadchiroli district, police said.

Chhatisgarh has been apprehended in a swift operation in
Maharashtra`s Gadchiroli district, police said on Sunday.

The accused Somaji Ayutu Made (30), commander of Aheri
Militia Dalam who hails from Parainar in Dantewada, had
crossed the border for treatment and local purchases, they
said.
Acting on a tip-off, Gadchiroli police arrested him
yesterday, police said.

Made had earlier worked as deputy commander of Aheri,
Perlimi and Bhamagarh Dalams, they claimed adding that he was
actively involved in many encounters with police, including at
Karapalli, and Kandhal in Orissa.
He was also wanted in connection with cases of murder,
attempt to murder and triggering landmine blasts.
