Tribal woman gang-raped in Maharashtra, four held

A 35-year-old tribal woman was allegedly gang-raped by five men at Akloli near Vajreshwari in the district, police said on Wednesday.

Thane: A 35-year-old tribal woman was allegedly gang-raped by five men at Akloli near Vajreshwari in the district, police said on Wednesday.

Four of the five accused were arrested last night in connection with the incident that took place on Monday, police said.

The four arrested have been identified as Sagar Hadal (21), Sanjay Arande (30), Mohan Kadak (32), Jagdish Gavid (22). The fifth accused identified as one Vinod Kumar is absconding and a search is on to nab him, police said.
The victim, a resident of Akloli, was on her way back home in the wee hours of September 23, when the five men stopped her. They then took her to an isolated place and raped her there, they said.

Three of the five accused knew the victim as they belonged to the same village, whereas two others were from a neighbouring village, police added.
