Two women held in cheating case
Two women were arrested in connection with a cheating case in which a local investment company had allegedly duped hundreds of investors to the tune of several crores of rupees, police said.
Nashik: Two women were arrested in connection with a cheating case in which a local investment company had allegedly duped hundreds of investors to the tune of several crores of rupees, police said.
With this, the total number of arrests made so far in the case has gone up to eight.
The cheating case had been registered against the city-based KBC Multi Trade Pvt Ltd for allegedly duping hundreds of investors to the tune of crores of rupees.
"Bharati Shiledar, a resident of Rahata in Ahmednagar district and sister-in-law of the main suspect Bhausaheb Chavan, was arrested last night, while Kaushalya Jagtap, wife of the police employee Sanjay Jagtap, was arrested today," Anil Pawar, in-charge of Adgaon police station, said.
Shiledar and Jagtap were produced in a local court today, which remanded them in police custody till July 21.
Earlier, Adgaon police had nabbed company director and main accused Bhausaheb Chavan`s brothers Nanasaheb Chhabu Chavan, Bapusaheb Chhabu Chavan and his wife Sadhana, manager Rajaram Shinde, employee with Nashik police Sanjay Waman Jagtap, brother-in-law of Bhausaheb Chavan and company`s driver Nitin Shinde, in the cheating case.
Jagtap was attached to the police headquarters here and was on sick leave for past two months. He was nabbed in Thane on Tuesday when he was fleeing from there while two others were arrested in Nashik, Dahane said.
Earlier,two investors, duped by the company had committed suicide.
After their suicide, a large number of investors from Nashik approached Panchavati and Adgaon police stations and filed cheating cases against the company.
Main suspect Bhausaheb Chhabu Chavan and his wife Arati are still absconding, police added.
