Pune: Veteran Marathi journalist Gopalarao
Patwardhan died at a hospital here today following brief
illness, family sources said. He was 88.
Patwardhan, a freedom fighter was active as a
professional journalist for over five decades and worked for
various newspapers including `Kesari, Vishal Sahyadri, and
Gavkari`. He was also associated with the cause of working
journalists and was a former president of Maharashtra Union of
Working Journalist and also Pune Shramik Patrakar Sangh.
Known for his social commitment in various fields,
Patwardhan was active till the end. Various organisations of
journalist mourning the demise of Patwardhan, hailed his
contribution to the working journalist movements. Patwardhan
is survived by a son and a daughter.
