Mumbai: Thousands of tea vendors are reportedly getting VIP passes to attend Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi`s rally here, this Sunday.
As per reports, around 10,000 tea vendors will get VIP passes for the rally of BJP`s prime ministerial for 2014 General Elections.
It has been reported that BJP leader Raj Purohit started distributing the invites to tea vendors in South Mumbai on Thursday.
The `Maha-Garjana` rally is scheduled at the Bandra-Kurla Complex.
A special enclosure is said to have been reserved for the tea vendors. Besides this, the Mumbai BJP is making all efforts to make sure that the turnout for Modi`s rally is huge in the financial capital of India.
BJP president Rajnath Singh, former party chief Nitin Gadkari and leaders like Gopinath Munde, Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Khadse are also scheduled to address the rally.
Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal had courted controversy last month when he had said, taking a dig at Gujarat CM, that a person who used to sell tea could never be nationalist in his views and could never become India`s PM.
BJP had hit back at the SP leader`s comment saying that the secularism syndicate was suffering from the dengue of depression. Modi too had lashed at Agarwal saying that anyone could occupy the top post of the country.
Modi has been evoking his humble background in rallies after rallies and has been telling the crowd as to how as a teenager he used to run a tea stall with his brother and how he used to sell tea in trains.
