Will brand Biharis as ‘infiltrators’: Raj Thackeray

Mumbai: MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Friday threatened to brand Biharis as ‘infiltrators’ and force them out of Maharashtra if authorities in Bihar take legal action against Mumbai policemen who picked up a teenager from there without informing their counterparts in that state.

Thackeray, whose party has often launched violent campaigns against Hindi-speaking people in Maharashtra, was reacting to a media report that Bihar chief secretary Navin Kumar has written to Mumbai police commissioner voicing displeasure over the arrest of the youth for vandalising the martyr's memorial during Azad Maidan protest on August 11.

Thackeray said the Bihar chief secretary had threatened legal action against Mumbai police.

"The letter says Mumbai police has to get in touch with the Bihar government before picking up any person from their state. If Mumbai crime branch picks up people from their state without the knowledge of the Bihar police they would face legal action," he said referring to the purported latter.

"If the Bihar government tries to become a hurdle in the way of a police investigation, then my party would dub every Bihari in Maharashtra as an infiltrator and would force them to leave the state." an angry Thackeray said.

"The person who desecrated the Amar Jawan memorial was arrested from Bihar. I would like to tell the Bihar chief secretary that because of your state, the crime rate (in Maharashtra) has gone up," he said.

Abdul Qadir Mohammed Younus Ansari (19) was picked up by Mumbai Crime Branch on Monday from Sitamarhi in Bihar for vandalising the Amar Jawan Memorial near Azad Maidan during August 11 rioting at a protest called against alleged atrocities on Muslims in Assam and Myanmar. Two protesters were killed and over 50 injured, mostly policemen and those from the media.

Thackeray also questioned Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's silence on the issue. "Why is Nitish Kumar is not saying anything? Where have the leaders from the state and Delhi gone? Why was the chief secretary not slammed for his remarks," he asked.

The MNS leader also demanded Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil's resignation for failure to control the riots.

How can he forget that big Industries and plants in Maharashtra and Gujrat are running with the coal and steel supplied from Jharkhand. If Mumbai is for Marathis according to Raj Thakrey then central government is fooling the state by centralising the expensive coal and natural resources of Jharkhand. He will understand in 10 days if Jharkhand govt stops sending coal to Maharashtra..... Thakrey has become mental....

Jharkhand govt doesn`t ``send`` coal to Maharashtra. We PAY for it at market rates, if not Jharkhand, we`ll buy it from other states, if necessary, Australia. Illogical argument. On the other hand, a great number of Biharis are freeloaders, looters, who don`t pay a penny in taxes & instead remit their earnings back home and on top of that, indulge in all sorts of anti-social, criminal activities, squat over public properties and demonstrate hostile attitude towards locals and their culture. All of this indeed makes them `infiltrators`. Why should we keep bearing burnt of corrupt politicians of UP & Bihar who have vested interest in keeping their states underdeveloped so they get more cross-subsidies. There are lot of underlying economic factors at play here. It is simplistic to simply blame Raj Thackeray, for seemingly parochial policy without understanding why there is discontent against Biharis in 1st place, not just here in Maharashtra, but across all progressive states in India.

It is true that due to Biharis the crime rate increased. But we have to follow the norms also. If Bihar police picked up some one from Maharashtra, the Maharashtra govt. also must have taken this kind of action. So Mr. Raj should ask the Maharashtra police why they did not take permission from Bihar police.

God knows what our Democratic Governance is doing. All political parties including BJP have become Dem and Deaf so not responding to MNS. Central Government has no sufficient time to cover up its corrupt deeds, then where is the time to concentrate on democratic issues and to protect the democratic structure of the country. Political Arm of the country has completely failed. People of the country now completely depend on Judiciary and Bureaucratic system to protect the fundamentals of Democracy. Hope they will come forward to keep the country integrated.

I call upon Maharashtra govt to not leave this guy, he should be given maximum punishment, and set an example for others, other wise today it is amarjawan jyoti tomorrow it will be our temples. So do not bow to these Bihari`s -sent them back, they are liability to this nation.

Our constitution and system is permitting such filths to pass such comments without any fear. In fact the present politicians want such things to happen and agravate situation with few goondas so that they can fish in troubled water. Further it prevents the mass to unite on the basic question like unemployment, corruption, poverty etc.We must support Anna Party to move forward for the massed.
