Nagpur: With the Winter Session of the Maharashtra Legislature commencing from Monday, the first regular session of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Shiv Sena led Government, after the Assembly Elections earlier this year, will begin in Nagpur.

According to reports, unprecedented security arrangements have been put in place with a thick security blanket surrounding the Vidhan Bhavan and residential complexes and other important places in the city.

Last week, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had confirmed that the BJP and the Shiv Sena have decided to re-forge their alliance in the state. Following which, twelve Shiv Sena leaders had taken oath as ministers in the first cabinet expansion of the BJP government in the state.

Earlier this year, the BJP and the Shiv Sena snapped their 25-year alliance ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly polls over a seat-sharing disagreement. The declaration of the results saw the BJP emerge as the single largest party with 122 seats in the 288-member assembly, yet falling short of achieving absolute majority. The Shiv Sena had finished second with 63 seats.
