Woman strangulated to death in Thane; Rs 7 lakh cash stolen

A 58-year-old woman was found strangled to death here after armed robbers attacked her and allegedly stole Rs 7 lakh from her residence, police said on Saturday.

Thane: A 58-year-old woman was found strangled to death here after armed robbers attacked her and allegedly stole Rs 7 lakh from her residence, police said on Saturday.

 The incident took place yesterday at Khemani locality in Ulhasnagar township when unknown killers barged into the house and strangled Meena Lassi, who was alone with her ailing mother aged above 80, Thane police said.
It was around 9.30 PM when the incident came to light after one of the two sons of the victim returned home and found her lying dead.

Police rushed to the murder scene and sent the body for postmortem and registered offences under Sections 302 and 397 of the IPC.
A hunt is on for the killers, police said.
