Nashik: Former IPS officer and Team Anna member Kiran Bedi on Friday said women should step forward and be in the forefront of the anti-corruption campaign.
"Women have inherent strength but our culture pushed them to the background...They should be in the forefront of the anti-corruption campaign," Bedi said.
She was delivering a lecture on `Strengthening of Women` at Dadasaheb Gaikwad Hall here to mark the first anniversary of Marathi daily `Divya Marathi`.
Questioning the ritual of `Karva Chauth` where women keep fasts for their husbands` health and well-being, Bedi asked, "Why husbands do not keep a fast for wives?"
Time is changing and women should empower their daughters, she said.
On Lokpal agitation, Bedi said Anna Hazare has got invitation from various states to lead anti-corruption agitations but each region should produce its own equivalent of Hazare.
