Mumbai: In a spine-chilling incident, a youth was mercilessly beaten and thrashed by six boys following an altercation at Malad in suburban Mumbai on Monday night. The gruesome incident was captured in closed circuit cameras installed there.

The victim, 22-year-old Afzal Beg, died on Tuesday, hours after he was hospitalised at Shatabdi Hospital by the police. Beg was a resident of Pathanwadi in Malad.

The tragic incident took place late on Monday when Beg and his friend Shivanand Mishra were riding a bike and Amol Ghuge, son of a police constable, waylaid the duo along with his friends.

An altercation broke out between the two groups soon and Ghuge pulled off Beg from Mishra's bike. Ghuuge and his friends then started beating the duo but Mishra somehow managed to escape with his bike.

Ghuge and his friends, however, continued to thrash Beg until he stopped moving. They also tried to run over Beg with one of their bikes.

The local residents called the police, which took Beg to Shatabdi Hospital. He suffered multiple injuries on his head and face and died on Tuesday.

The police have arrested Bhuge and his five friends.
