Sofia: Bulgaria will host a round of the World Rally Championship (WRC) next year, the Bulgarian automobile federation said.
"We're very pleased because it'll be the first WRC race in Bulgaria," the federation's chief Georgi Yanakiev told reporters after returning from Paris, where the International Automobile Federation (FIA) made its decision.
Rally Bulgaria, which has been part of the European Rally Championship, will take place in the second week of July 2010.
This year's race in Bulgaria was halted after the seventh stage following the death of Italian navigator Flavio Gugelmini.
The country is also hoping to secure a Formula One Grand Prix in either 2011 or 2012.
