New Delhi: Around 250 drivers will defy the
tough terrains of Thar, rocky slopes of Aravalli and slippery
sands of Rann of Kutch when they compete at the 8th Maruti
Suzuki Desert Storm Rally to be flagged off from Noida
on Sunday.
The six-day rally, which will cover a total distance of
2,600km before culminating at Udaipur in Rajasthan, is being
participated by around 100 teams from across the country.
During the challenging journey, the drivers have to prove
their mettle while negotiating the tough off-road terrains,
semi-dry river beds and some boulder strewn roads across the
rugged Aravalli mountain.
The rally offers a tougher route this time in comparison
to that of the previous year to the contenders, who have to
drive 20-30km through tough terrains at each leg of the
tedious journey.
Besides participation from Indian Army, the event will
also see people from different strides of life including
doctors, businessmen and even housewives sitting behind the
wheel.
