Chetan Bhagat feels maligned by ‘3 Idiots’

Mumbai: With the ‘3 Idiots’ story credit controversy getting murkier by each passing hour, it seems ‘Five Point Someone’ writer Chetan Bhagat is in no mood to forgive and forget Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi for claiming the story credit instead of adapting the novel for the film.

With Rajkumar Hirani calling Bhagat a liar and Aamir branding him publicity hungry, Bhagat feels cheated as ‘3 Idiots’ is based on his book ‘Five Point Someone.’

Bhagat blasted Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi for claming ‘3 Idiots’ to be an original story, something which is illegal as the original story credit is vested in Chetan Bhagat as the author of ‘Five Point Someone.’ But at the same time, Bhagat clarified that he is not planning to take any legal action against the team of ‘3 Idiots’.

Bhagat added that he has made a lot of off-book contributions to the film and the makers of ‘3 Idiots’ made him sign a non-disclosure agreement. The writer said that ‘3 Idiots’ team is ‘maligning’ him by holding simultaneous three press conferences.

When enquired whether he had any idea about the final script of film, Bhagat said that he was kept in dark and was not shown any final draft.

The film is based entirely on five Point Someone. What the role of Abhijeet Joshi in the making of story is only to give it the Bollywood masaala to make tastier for the viewers. Original is original. My question is tomorrow some body make a film on this story of `3 idiots` in gujrati and tell that no the story is entirely different because the characters speak in Gujrati will the producers of 3 idiots leave the person without claiming royalty ? then why Chetan is being blamed.

Such a wonderful film getting some stupid sort of publicity because of an over boiled imbroglio speaks very low about the author and the movie makers. Come on guys show some respect to each other. What is u would mention Mr. Bhagat`s name in thr credits. Would that belittle the excellent work of art that u have produced. The movie has such deep mesaage for the younger generation and once u come out of the movie hall u feel kind of rejuvenated. and also chetan `` why on earth forgot to see the movie before its release and relized about ur missing name only when the movie became a super hit``? so keep the controversy to rest aamir, u are a better man to judge in this situation, give the man his due credit, it won`t do u any harm. Cheers mate for acting n cheers to rajkmar hirani for producing such a fantastic movie....

At first Chetan bhagat is not a publicity hungry coz he dont need it as he is already well established and well famous among new generation, i`ve seen the craze of his five point someone during my college days while i was pursuing my engineering .
even i was thinking that the movie is completely based on his book till the end of first half except some minor character change ofcourse the climax is completely different .
honestly this was the second time when liked Aamir best out of him (personally otherwise everyone knows he is best at his work) but his comment against bhagat is really and absolutely immatured (just grow up ) he really deseve the credit . while aamir is king of acting Bhagat is king of words and there is no doubt .
but this dispute between these two definately going to affect the moral of movie . (if this is not a dirty bollywood publicity stunt)

The real idiots are those who pay to see the clownish film -3Idiots ,which gives the wrong message to the people.In our ancient culture a Guru(teacher) is respected not insulted.Why go to see little Aamir Khan, one of Bollywood Khan midgets? The ugly little Khans, with no talent, have had their own way for far too long.They are all trash.

I think Chetan Bhagat should be shown the movie and then asked if he still thinks that there is any similarity between his book and the movie. If he thinks that the movie is an adaptation of his book then any movie ever made set in college campus is an adaptation of his book. There are just 2 scenes in this movie having any kind of similarity with the content of his book - 1. the ragging scene, 2. when they get caught while stealing question papers. Most importantly the theme of the movie is totally different from his book.

I saw the movie today and I believe that this movie gives a powerful message that if a person follows the passion in the field where his inclinations are then he need not strive hard for success in fact the success would come looking for him. This incidentally holds good in the case of both...Chetan Bhagat as well as Aamir Khan. They both are living legends and they have focussed on the passion they are blessed with... Personally I feel that it would be a benevolent gesture on Aamir`s part to acknowledge the efforts of Chetan even if it is .01%. The fight between the two TItans of their own fields shall adversely affect the spirits of the theme this movie successfully professes. Bottom line:``It is mind over the matter``

Aamir Khan i greatly admire you for your passion for work and your dedication and also your integrity. You have made lots of awarness to indian citizen towards many burning issues. But what are you saying now about your recent movie 3 idiots is not respectfull, The entire story is based on Chetan Bhagat,s best seller Five point someone except the ending. So you should not lie about the credit giving. Five point someone was bigger hit than this movie and it will always be. Chetan bhagat is not publicity hungry as he is very popular among young generation who admire also you. Therefore give him the desired credit and make it public.
