New Delhi: The government on Tuesday said
10,500 freedom fighters have been granted pension as per
the recommendations of the two committees set up by the Home
Ministry.

Replying to a supplementary in the Lok Sabha, Home
Minster P Chidambaram said another committee is looking into
cases of 4000 other freedom fighters.

To a question that 23 fresh applications were filed with
the home ministry, Chidambaram said "It is very unlikely that
a fresh application has been filed in 2008-09... Today we have
no fresh case but if it comes the government will certainly
look into it."

The Hyderabad Liberation Front had submitted applications
of 10,500 persons and that has been granted, he said.
