New Delhi: Thirteen suspected Indian
Mujahideen terrorists will face trial for allegedly plotting
serial blasts in the national capital in September 2008 that
claimed 26 lives as a Court on Saturday decided to frame charges
for waging war and murder against them.

However, one of the accused, Salman was discharged
with the judge saying there was no material evidence pointing
to his involvement in the blasts.

The court said it will frame the charges against them
on February 21 for the offences of conspiring to wage war
against the nation and killing people under various provisions
of law including the tough anti-terror Unlawful Activities
(Prevention) Act.

The court issued warrants against all the accused to ensure their presence on Feb 21. Two of the accused are in Tihar jail in Delhi and 11 are in a court in Gujarat in connection with serial blasts in Ahmedabad.

The court earlier discharged accused Salman, saying that there was insufficient evidence against him. The proceedings took place through video conferencing.

Besides the killing of 26 persons, the blasts had left
135 people injured on September 13, 2008.

Five cases were registered in connection with the
serial blasts at Gaffar Market in Karol Bagh, Barakhamba Road
in Connaught Place, M-Block Market in Greater Kailash and
recovery of bomb near India Gate.

Among the 14 accused, five men were arrested by Delhi
police following an encounter at Batla House here on September
19, 2008.

Of the remaining, four were apprehended by Mumbai
police, three by Uttar Pradesh police and one each by
Hyderabad and Madhya Pradesh police.

Two of those involved in the blasts, Atif Ameen,
alleged leader of the Indian Mujahideen, and another suspect
Mohd Sajid were killed in the gun battle at Jamia Nagar in
south Delhi.

The encounter at Jamia Nagar area had claimed life of
Inspector M C Sharma.

Most of the accused are natives of Azamgarh district
