New Delhi: Two fresh cases of dengue were
reported in the city today, taking the number of infected
people to 15 this season.
"Fifteen people in the city have tested positive for
dengue till date. Most of them are from MCD area," N K Yadav,
Health Officer, MCD said.
"We are taking all measures to contain the disease. We
are now planning to prevent offices from becoming mosquito
breeding grounds. A meeting will be held tomorrow to see what
can be done in this regard," he said.
The first case of dengue in the capital was reported in
June. There are concerns among the civic agencies about spread
of dengue this season as the city will host the Commonwealth
Games in October, a month which witnesses high prevalence of
vector-borne diseases.
MCD this year is procuring 14 vehicle-mounted fogging
machines and 247 hand-held pulse jet type thermal fogging
machines to prevent breeding of mosquitoes in the city.
