2G scam: Sibal transfers Raja`s aide from DoT

New Delhi: Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal on Friday transferred RK Chandolia — a key aide of former telecom minister A Raja - from the Telecom Ministry, reports said on Saturday.

Two newspapers, quoting DoT sources, said the he has been sent back to his parent cadre, the Indian Economic Service under the Ministry of Finance.

Chandolia, reports said, is accused of playing a crucial role in the 2G spectrum scam. He was the economic advisor to DoT during the controversial award of 2G licences in 2008.
His appointment as an economic advisor to Raja was also mired in controversy. It is accused that Chandolia has been with the DMK leader since UPA-I as Personal Secretary to Raja. It’s the DMK leader who insisted for bringing back the officer as an economic advisor to DoT during UPA-II.
