Ralegan Siddhi: Iconic Gandhian Anna Hazare on Sunday hit out at the UPA government saying, a number of ministers in the Union Cabinet were simply lying and that the government should refrain from its "vindictive" attitude.
“It is unfortunate that a number of senior ministers in the union cabinet are simply lying…The government has the power. It is upto the government to use or abuse its power”, he said.
Hazare advised the lawmakers to maintain a clean image and follow the footprints of the likes of legendry Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Lal Bahadur Shastri and K Kamaraj.
“My 12-day long fast was the beginning of a long journey. My fight against corruption will continue. The aim is to create a corruption free India,” he said.
“Those who join in the fight for the cause of the country may face many hurdles,” he said.
The Gandhi said he has recovered well after his fast. “I had lost 7 kg. Meanwhile, I have recovered 4 kg,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Hazare reacted sharply to the privilege and income tax notices slapped on members of his team and cautioned the government that undue harassment of civil society members may cause unrest in the country.
"It is time the government must try to create trust and bridge the gap in the hearts after the nation-wide agitation for Jan Lokpal Bill instead of sending out a wrong message," he said.
Hazare warned that "attempts to harass civil society members will raise questions about the intention and spirit of the government.
"This would create unrest in society...I request the government to leave the vindictive attitude and unite Indians for making India a super power", he said.
