New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), India's newest political party, was Monday formally launched by activist Arvind Kejriwal in the presence of thousands of supporters.

"This party is result of our struggle against corruption," said Kejriwal, who had announced the name of his party on Saturday.

His colleague Manish Sisodia declared the name of the party to the gathering in central Delhi's Jantar Mantar and said: "It is our party."

Sisodia also announced the names of the other 23 members of the national executive body. These include Sisodia himself as well as Prashant Bhushan, Dinesh Waghela, Sanjay Singh, Gopa Rai and Kumar Vishwas.

"Kejriwal takes the position as the national convenor. Pankaj Gupta would be the national secretary, Krishna Kanth would be national treasurer of AAP," Waghela said.

Earlier in the day, Kejriwal and his colleagues visited Mahatma Gandhi's memorial Raj Ghat. He also paid tributes to BR Ambedkar.

Kejriwal's chose to launch his party Nov 26 as the constitution of India was adopted on this day in 1949.

Kejriwal had said Sunday that he would "go to every village and town in the country for the next one year to convince people against the vote-bank politics of the Congress and the BJP". Both parties, he claimed, "used people only for votes".

Hi Swati,Thanks. You have correctly expressed the expectations of aam aadmi and I agree with your suggestions for making real change.AAP should also do something to keep housing affordable and to limit the wealth of every individual.

You are showing dream to Aam Admi. Do not disappoint them. I wish you good luck. We are very proud to have persons like you in India who has exposed Prime minister, Sonia gandhi nephew and Rahul Gandhi`s brother-in law Robert Vadra, gadkari, Salman Kurshid looting our public money and not providing efficient service to public. We have heard about developed countries where PM, president and ministers resigning from the post and making public service clean of corruption if any allegation against PM or president or ministers is made. But in India, the corrupted rulers are continued to rule and making further prevailing of corruption. Please make India corruption-free and choose sincere leaders who will honestly work and respond to Aam admi and prove that democracy is for the people (aam admi) and by the people (aam admi) and turn India into developed country.

Kejriwalji,Best of luck.I expect that you should not have any cast politics, any statue, namantar and any memorial on your agenda. We are fed up with that. You should fight for our day to day issues. Also you should appreciate other good people and thoughts from other parties like Mr.Jayaram Ramesh. His statement regarding creating more toilet was correct but nobody supported him. Also he had done great work to serve the environment.Similarly we expect your party to give vision document. Unfortunately our Raj Thackrey failed in that. You party will success when you express aam aadmi`s stand in every issue like oppose to Dadoji Konddev statue in pune, sugarcane prices, the injustice to farmers through Krishi utpanna bajar samiti etc. Your party should also support good activist like Abhay Bang,Baba Amte,Medha Patkar etc.If you focus on increasing the voting percentage of middleclass and educated people,I belive that you will be definitely a strong candidate for prime minister. Also one suggestion at one time you should avoid to oppose all and here you will require some political sense.
