New Delhi: In the wake of continuing deadlock over government formation in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party has decided to prepare itself for fresh polls.

At a rally in Jantar Mantar on Wednesday, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal urged supportrs to “donate liberally” for the same.

The re-poll in Delhi, if the situation arises, is likely to he held alongside the General Elections due next May. AAP has already hinted that it would contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2014.

Addressing his supporters and newly-elected MLAs, Kejriwal said: “When we got the required funds from people ahead of the Assembly elections, we had asked people not to donate further. Now we have to prepare for fresh Delhi Assembly as well as the General Elections in 2014. This is not our fight but your fight and we cannot continue this fight without your support.”

“Earlier when we put donor’s names on the AAP website they objected to it saying that they might have to face the witch hunt of the rival parties. Now that the people of Delhi have posed faith in us, they are calling back saying that they have no fear from anybody now,” Kejriwal added.

Kejriwal meanwhile made it clear that since AAP had not won the majority to form government in Delhi, it will stay clear from any moves to cobble up a coalition with either the BJP or the Congress.

“If the BJP doesn’t get majority at the Centre, will they also not stake claim then?” he asked.

In the recently-concluded Assembly elections in Delhi, the AAP won 28 seats in a spectacular debut, while the BJP emerged as the single largest party with 31 seats. The Congress was reduced to a lowly 8 seats.
