New Delhi: The newbie on the block, Aam Aadmi Party is facing derecognition after being entangled in a legal battle, a report claimed on Wednesday.

The issue involves submission of affidavits for securing recognition from the Election Commission.

Any new party is supposed to submit 100 affidavits by its own members along with the application for seeking recognition. The party has to ensure that none of the 100 members have any affiliation to any other political party.
In AAP`s case, two of the 100 members who submitted affidavits were members of the Janarajya Party at that time.

The Janarajya Party has now complained to the EC in this regard and has demanded the derecognition of the AAP.

An appeal has also been filed in a court here, and the police have registered an FIR at Parliament Street police station in this regard on the court`s order.

The court has taken note of the matter as a case of fraud.
