New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yogendra Yadav`s face was smeared with ink on Saturday by an unknown person during an event here.

Yadav was seen on TV channels with a blackened face.

He was speaking to reporters after attending a Women`s Day function at Jantar Mantar when the incident happened.
“I was not even able to see the person`s face,” Yadav said. “You`ll have seen what has happened,” he added.

“I was talking to the media and suddenly someone came (from behind) and threw ink on me and shouted some slogans like `Bharat Mata ki jai`.”

Furious AAP activists caught hold of the attacker and he was hit repeatedly before police intervened and led him away.
The attacker was taken to Parliament Street police station for questioning.

Police sources said that the ink attacker is an AAP worker.

Congress leader Digvijay Singh meanwhile condemned the incident.

“It`s in very bad taste; I condemn this,” Singh said.
