BJP can’t take AAP’s support; it wanted to ally with Maulana Tauqeer: Meenakshi Lekhi

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi on Tuesday said her party cannot take support from the newly formed Aam Aadmi Party to form government in the national capital. Lekhi posted on the micro-blogging site Twitter – “We can`t take support of parties who seek support from the likes of Maulana Tauqeer!” Ahead of the Assembly Elections in the national capital, AAP had courted controversy over a meeting between its chief Arvind Kejriwal and controversial Muslim cleric Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan. Reports had claimed then that Kejriwal had approached cleric Maulana Tauqeer Rana to campaign for his party for the Assembly polls. The cleric had hit headlines for issuing fatwas and announcing bounty for beheading Bangladeshi controversial author Taslima Nasreen.
