New Delhi: Ahead of the crucial seat-sharing
talks between DMK and Congress for the Tamil Nadu Assembly
polls, Congress on Saturday said action into the 2G Spectrum scam
would not affect the "political alliance" between them.
"CBI works independently. Government of India does not
interfere in its day to day working. The agency should be
allowed to carry out its job. The investigation by CBI into
the matter is not against any party but individuals. Ours is a
political alliance and that will continue," party spokesperson
Shakeel Ahmed told reporters here.
He was reacting to questions on CBI action in the case
including the arrest of former Telecom Minister A Raja and
searches at the offices and residences of top management of
DMK first family-run Kalaignar TV in connection with the scam.
State party chief KV Thankgabalu has said the seat
sharing talks would be held tomorrow at DMK headquarters in
Chennai.
The Congress panel comprises union ministers P Chidambaram
and G K Vasan, besides Thangabalu, party spokesperson Jayanthi
Natarajan and K Jayakumar, MLA.
The DMK panel will be represented by Deputy Chief Minister
MK Stalin, ministers Arcot N Veeraswamy, Durai Murugan, K
Ponmudi and Lok Sabha MP TR Baalu.
The talks will take place against the backdrop of the
ruling DMK allotting 31 seats to PMK yesterday.
Congress, which extends support to DMK in 234-member
Assembly, may claim 70 seats from the ruling party.
