Advani admits corruption in BJP ruled Karnataka

BJP leader LK Advani said there will be no compromise on corruption and stressed that credibility was very important in public life.

Mangalore: Admitting there were some
problems in BJP-ruled Karnataka, BJP leader L K Advani on Monday said there will be no compromise on corruption and stressed
that credibility was very important in public life.

On the second day of his tour in BJP ruled Karnataka, where
former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and some of his former
colleagues have been arrested on corruption charges, Advani
said "...small things do happen. Even an MP and an MLA
confronts situation where he is charged or accused of
something but not to this extent. Therefore, I was very
particular that I cannot, under any circumstances, omit
Karnataka. I had to go to Karnataka," he said.

"Though we had some problems earlier, the Karnataka
chief minister has assured me that there will be no compromise
on corruption in the state," he told a public meeting here.
Advani said certain leaders in BJP advised him not to
visit Karnataka during his Jan Chetna Yatra, he did not pay
heed to their advice and thought it fit to address the
shortcomings in his party than only worrying about corruption
at the Centre.

"If there is any shortcoming in my party unit, I should be
more worried about it than only worrying about central
government`s corruption," he told a public meeting here.

"I decided to come here and put forth my views before the
public here", he said.

Advani said "credibility is very important in public
life so that public should have faith in what you say".
