Advani to request PM to start Sindhi TV channel

Mumbai: Senior BJP Leader L K Advani on Sunday said that he would personally request Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to start a DD Sindhi channel to showcase the culture and talent of the community.

"I will personally go and request the Prime Minister to start a channel to showcase the outstanding talent of the Sindhi community. Besides, they are also doing a lot of social work that can be shown on the channel," Advani said.

He said this while addressing a gathering at the Jhamatmal Wadhwani Memorial Awards 2012 function organised at the National College in Bandra.

In a bid to get a Doordarshan Sindhi channel, people from this community have been sending post-cards to the Prime Minister, in which, they have sought the government to preserve their language, culture and identity through the 24-hour DD Sindhi channel.

Sindhi is a dying language in India & a Sindhi chennel would offer some breadth to it.We would be held responsible if we dont make any action in this matter.It is ethical to consider this as we have name Sindh in our National antheme

Thre is significant bhojpuri community in our country but Central govt has not yet started DD Bhojpuri channel and if they will alllow other minoirty community channel then it wont be acceptable

Stop your whining. Sindhis don`t even have a home state in India. They lost all their real estate holdings in Pakistan during the Partition. The least the Indian government can afford them is their own TV station promoting their language.
