Hyderabad: As many as 110 students of a
government-run Girl's Residential School, fell sick due to
suspected food-poisoning after having lunch at the school in
Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh today, police said.
Out of 476 girls studying in the 'Gurukul Patashala'
in Nelakondapalli mandal of Khammam district, 436 had lunch in
the school premises at about 2 pm and many of them started
vomting after an hour, a senior police officer said adding
they were immediately taken to different hospitals.
"As of now 110 girls studying in different classes
were undergoing treatment at hospitals in Khammam and other
towns and their condition was out of danger," the police
officer told PTI over phone.
"It may be suspected food-poisoning, but the
investigations were on," he said in reply to a query.
An investigation was underway. Besides, District
Revenue officials were also inspecting the matter after
visiting the school, the police official said.
