New Delhi: Agriculture officers today said they will launch a protest from tomorrow in support of their demand for creation of an organised cadre of Central Agriculture Service (CAS) officers, along the same lines as the engineering, defence and economic services.

Thousands of protesters will wear black badges from August 19-24 and take out a candle-light demonstration on August 27 for forming an organised Central Agriculture Service cadre of group A & B technical officers of the Agriculture Ministry and its attached and subordinate offices, Technical Officers Association President Sahdeo Singh told reporters.

The members will work extra time after office hours from August 25-26 as part of the agitation, Singh, accompanied by TOA General Secretary Ram Sanehi, said.

They alleged that "due to the indifferent attitude and bureaucratic manipulation in the past one decade, the creation of an organised cadre of CAS could not materialise."

However, several other cadre services were created during this period, like the Indian Engineering Service, Indian Defence Service, Indian Economic Service, Indian Corporate Service and Indian Legal Service, among others, they added.

Its too late to create an organised all india agriculutural services. it has to be taken care enough as our economy is farming based and we claim 70% population of our country rely on this enterprise.Due to agri professionals the green revolution in seventees and our country is self reliant to feed our population. Now we want to second green revolution so that our farmers will have to self sufficient economically. NOW THE TIME TO THINK POSITIVELY SO THE AGRI EXPERTS HAVE TO RENDER THEIR SERVICES AND EXPERTISE IN WELFARE OF INDIAN FARMING COMMUNITY.

Agriculture is the base of our country.The Govt of India should be given full emphasis to this Department.If Agriculture is not progress ,the country can not progress.So Hon.Minister of Agriculture,should take steps for the Agriculturist to gave an important position.

Agriculture is the backbone of our country and plays an important role in Indian economy. More than 70% population depend on agriculture for their livelihood, employment and food security in rural India. But, this Department is always headed by non agricultural expert in the country. The various programmes and schemes are formulated by the agriculture experts those who have been working in the Ministry of Agriculture for the last many years but they don’t get respect and rewards as beaurocrats are more dominating. Moreover, they are not specialized in the agriculture field but claiming to be expert and master for all. The politicians have also not thought for creation of cadre of Indian Agriculture Service at national level at par with other cadre services. That is why the agriculture is not progressing well in the national perspective. In the past several national level committees and commissions have recommended for constitution of Indian Agriculture Service in the country. National Commission on Agriculture, 5th & 6th Central Pay Commissions have also recommended in their reports for its constitution but the Ministry of Agriculture has not taken any initiative so far.
It is, therefore, necessary to constitute Indian Agriculture Service and restructure the Ministry of Agriculture along with its Subordinate Offices to exploit unlease human potential in agriculture without further delay.
