Kolkata: Air Marshal L K Malhotra on Wednesday
assumed charge as the new Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) of
the Eastern Air Command headquarters in Shillong.
Malhotra who was Senior Officer in-charge Administration
at HQ Eastern Air Command before assuming his present charge,
succeeds Air Marshal A S Karnik.
Commissioned in 1973 in the Air Force Fighter Stream,
Malhotra has flown almost 4000 hours on a variety of fighter
aircraft, with maximum experience on Jaguar aircraft.
A National Defence Academy graduate, he is a qualified
Flying Instructor. A graduate from the Defence Services Staff
College, he has underwent the Higher Command Course at College
of Combat, Mhow.
Recipient of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vishisht Seva
Medal, Malhotra has also been commended by the Chief of Air
Staff.
