Air Marshal Rajkumar to head Tri-Service Command

For the first time, an Air Force officer has been named to head the country`s only Tri-Service Command at Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

New Delhi, Dec 02: For the first time, an Air Force officer has been named to head the country's only Tri-Service Command at Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Air Marshal Packiam Paul Rajkumar, a helicopter pilot will take over as Commander-in-Chief of the Command from Vice Admiral A K Singh today, according to a Defence Ministry announcement here.

The Tri-Service Command, which comprises elements from Army, Navy as well as Air units had been set up in 2001 and since then has been commanded by Army and Navy officers.

Commissioned in the flying stream of the IAF in June 1969, Air Marshal Rajkumar has logged 6,500 flying hours flying 12 different aircraft in the armoury of the Air Force.
