AK Antony visits forward most locations in Rajasthan
Defence Minister AK Antony on Monday visited the desert sector of Southern Command of the Army and expressed satisfaction over the operational preparedness along the Indo-Pak border.
Jaisalmer: Defence Minister AK Antony on Monday visited the desert sector of Southern Command of the Army and expressed satisfaction over the operational preparedness along the Indo-Pak border.
After his arrival at Jaisalmer air force station, Antony embarked on a tour to the forward most locations of the Army and spent time with the troops braving extremely hot weather and frequent dust-storms.
He was briefed on operational and infrastructure issues there and also interacted with troops present at the posts.
Antony promised to look into the aspects of enhancing infrastructure and habitat for troops there.
The minister then visited Jaisalmer military station where a senior official briefed him on operational aspects during which the need for enhancing infrastructure at key military stations and forward locations was stressed upon for enhancing the operational and fighting efficiency of fighting units.
Antony also addressed army personnel during a Sainik Sammelan where he motived them to remain alert and prepared.
Army Chief General VK Singh, Lt Gen AK Singh (General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Command), Lt Gen Narendra Singh (General Officer Commanding Konark Corps) and Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar were among others present.
