New Delhi: Union Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Thursday said that the Home Ministry has sought opinion from Law Ministry for sending Presidential reference to the Supreme Court for in connection with Justice AK Ganguly’s case.

The former SC judge has been accused of sexually harassing a law intern.

Home Ministry’s decision comes after parliamentarians cutting across party lines have raised their pitch for the removal of Justice Ganguly from the post of West Bengal Human rights Commission chairman.

Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had written to the President seeking action against Ganguly.

West Bengal`s ruling Trinamool Congress has been at the forefront in protests against Ganguly, seeking his resignation, and Banerjee has twice written to the president urging action in the case.

Additional Solicitor General Indira Jaising on Sunday revealed the affidavit by the law intern who has accused Ganguly of sexual harassment.

The affidavit was submitted to a Supreme Court panel, which indicted Ganguly, finding him guilty of "unwelcome behaviour" towards the intern.
