New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry on Tuesday issued a terror alert in Mumbai and Ahmedabad after specific intelligence inputs hinting at a possible LeT attack.

Intelligence suggests terrorists have already sneaked into the two cities for attacks before New Year and Christmas, Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjeev Dayal said.

Security has been beefed up in both the cities with the sensitive spots being kept under special vigil. House-to-house search is also on since last two days.

All vulnerable areas in Mumbai like Gateway of India, Siddhivinayak Temple and especially Navy installations are supposed to be prominent on the terror radar. Also, govt. buildings and similar soft targets in Ahmedabad have been alerted.

Although the exact route which terrorists might have taken to enter the country, is not yet known, but sea route is the one, which is once again being suspected.

It must be noted that the terrorists who had staged the much heinous 26/11 attacks, too had sneaked in via the sea route.
