Amarnath yatra registration crosses one-lakh mark

pilgrims has crossed one lakh mark on Sunday.

"Over one lakh pilgrims have been registered for
pilgrimage to cave shrine of Lord Shiva in South Kashmir
Himalayas till today as registration across the country began
from June 5, officials of J&K Bank, nodal agency for
registration, said.

While 54 thousand pilgrims have registered through
various J&K Bank registration counters, over 47,000 have
registered through online.

Giving break up, they said that 53,000 pilgrims have
registered for their yatra on Pahalgam-Amarnath route, while
48,000 have registered for Baltal-Amarnath route till now.

The registration began at 121 branches of J&K Bank
which is nodal agency for registration of pilgrims across the
country, they said.

The yatra will begin from July 1 and conclude on
August 24, the day of Sharvan Purnima.

The yatra registration would go on till August 20.

It may be recalled that 3,73,419 pilgrims had visited
cave shrine in 2009 and 4,98,075 pilgrims visited cave shrine
in 2008.
