there are no mining activities in india, whether for ores and minerals, or even rare earths, in which politicians do not have a strong to dominant hand, acting directly and through their relatives and of course, benamis. the politicians` stakes in mining activities (and the allied businesses like truck fleet operations, for ex.) are astronomical as they are in agriculture and innumerable legal and illegal activities like hotels, restaurants, pubs, prostitution, liquor (licit and illicit),to name a few major ones. no taxation, no enforcement of laws and therefore no `justice` for them, nor any `outsiders` can ever venture to step into their territories without a share being agreed in favour of them before startup. as long as the present dominance of criminals in politics is allowed by the people to continue due to lack of mature electoral wisdom, these evils will continue to make a mockery of democracy. one cannot be sure how long this can continue since it threatens the survival of indian society itself, and a time can very well come, with the population increasing by say 50%, there can be a bloody revolution to restore balance of justice and democracy. genuine social activism will be frowned upon and destroyed, while simultaneously the bogus counterpart will continue to thrive increasingly taking up trivial issues which will have a harmful, diversionary impact due to reduction of attention on crucial and burning issues of the society and the nation.
