New Delhi: As former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh awaits his bail hearing in the much hyped cash-for-votes scam case, his protégé Jaya Prada came out in his defence, warning that if he opened his mouth then many big names would be in trouble.

Seemingly hurt by the people who deserted Amar in this hour of need, Jaya said, “He supported Amitabh Bachchan when he was in crisis but Bachchan is not standing by him. Mulayam`s position was because of Singh -- he broke the Mayawati government and made him CM... he did not take any position. So did Congress."
She was also harsh on actor Raj Babbar and Azam Khan, and called them ‘ungrateful’.

She reiterated that Amar Singh is innocent and being falsely implicated in the case saying, “He is being targeted. Where is the source of money? Delhi Police have no evidence against him. It is politically motivated to sabotage his image.”

Regarding the health of the Thakur leader, the former Bollywood actress informed, “He is not comfortable with the washroom (toilet) in jail, it is not hygienic... it is not safe for him in jail because of health problems.”
But Jaya seemed confident of Amar’s innocence as she asserted, “I believe in judiciary but the common man is asking why he is in jail? He is not the beneficiary (of trust vote), there are others.”

She also threatened that Amar Singh holds a lot of secrets that can put the high and mighty of this country in trouble, saying, “If he opens his mouth, there will be trouble (for many) but he is very calm... he keeps his word. That is his character.”
