Shillong: Mahatma Gandhi`s grand-daughter
on Wednesday described the anti-corruption campaign by social
activist Anna Hazare as a "true movement" which ought to be
"It is a true movement and should be followed up. He
(Anna) gave a voice to several people who wanted to be heard.
After he started the movement, at least we are now talking of
corruption," Vice-chairperson of `Gandhi Smriti and Darshan
Samity` Tara Gandhi said.
"Anna is a person who has been able to bring the whole
country together, be it the corporate, the farmer, the rich or
the poor, the politician or even the Bollywood," she said.
Refusing to compare Anna with Mahatma Gandhi, she
said, "the Father of the Nation was an original man. Gandhi
did not have a Gandhi before him who looked at his conscience.
"Had it been so easy to become Gandhi, there would
have been no problems. But Gandhi is relevant and will be
relevant as is truth, love and compassion," she said.
