New Delhi: Defence Minister AK Antony on Monday reviewed the security situation in a meeting here with the top security brass including the National Security Advisor (NSA), the three service chiefs and the Defence Secretary.

The Defence Minister was updated on the prevailing security situation in the country along all its frontiers and the immediate neighbourhood.

Tomorrow, the Defence Minister will also witness the annual theatre level operational preparedness exercise of the Indian Navy codenamed as `TROPEX` off the coast of Vishakhapatnam.

"Accompanied by Admiral Verma, the Defence Minister will spend two days on a naval platforms off the coast of Vishakhapatnam to witness annual TROPEX exercise," the spokesperson said.

TROPEX is a major annual exercise of the combined fleets of the Navy conducted to test the Indian Navy`s preparedness to meet any contingency.

The exercise will see participation of almost 40 ships including submarines and 13 naval aircraft and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), he said.

"Units of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and 18 aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) will also take part in the exercise. A variety of missile firings, air defence exercises and anti-submarine drills will also be carried out," he said.
