Armed forces commanders` meet at Port Blair

The conference was chaired by Lieutenant General NC Marwah, AVSM, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN).

Port Blair: The Commanders of the three Armed Forces from the South-Eastern theatre on Friday resolved that the tri-Service conference here was the ideal platform for professional exchange of ideas and resolving joint issues
mutually.

The conference focussed on areas of cooperation and integration among the participating commands for achieving operational harmony and agreed that joint study groups on various aspects of inter-operability would go a long way in
streamlining future joint operations, according to a commander.

The conference was chaired by Lieutenant General NC Marwah, AVSM, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN).

Lt Gen Marwah observed that inter-services operation require maximum focus in terms of common infrastructure and integration of procedures.

The high level conference was also attended by Vice-Admiral Anup Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, Air Marshal S Mukerji, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Air Command, Lt Gen AK Singh,
General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command and Rear Admiral SY Shrikhande, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command.

The participants concurred that the two-day meet has been an excellent common meeting ground for harmonising resource utilisation by cooperation, coordination and better assimilation of each others capability, strength and limitations.

With the increasing importance of the Indian ocean region in the context of emerging security needs of the nation, it is only appropriate that the conference was held at the ANC, the security experts noted at the meet.
