Army Chief satisfied with security situation at border areas

Army Chief General V K Singh on Thursday reviewed the security situation at forward areas along the LoC in J-K and expressed satisfaction with the state of readiness of troops to counter infiltration from across the border.

Jammu: Army Chief General V K Singh on Thursday
reviewed the security situation at forward areas along the
Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and expressed
satisfaction with the state of readiness of troops to counter
infiltration from across the border.

General Singh visited Nagrota corps and forward posts of
Poonch and Mendhar sectors and was briefed about the security
situation in the border areas, an army spokesman said here.

The Chief of the Army Staff was satisfied with the state
of readiness of the troops to counter infiltration and crush
terrorism, the spokesman said.

He lauded the efforts of army in improving the life of
locals through projects like `Sadbhavna`.

While interacting with the troops, General Singh lauded
their courage, dedication and efforts. He said the morale of
terrorists is at its lowest ebb due to successful operation of
the army in the last few months.

He exhorted the troops to continue with the state of
high vigil and neutralise the nefarious designs of terrorists
both along the line of control and in the hinterland.

Later, General Singh met Governor N N Vohra and Chief
Minister Omar Abdullah.
