Bhopal: Army chief General V K Singh will
appear for a viva on May 28 here for enrolling himself for a
doctorate degree in Military Science from the Barkatullah
University.

"The Research Degree Committee (RDC) will be held on
May 28 and the Army Chief would appear for a viva, which will
be taken before enrolling him for a PhD degree," University
sources said today.

After clearing the RDC viva, the General will do his
PhD degree under the guidance of Professor Kailash Tyagi, who
is a D Lit degree holder in the subject.

This is perhaps for the first time in the history of
universities in Madhya Pradesh that a top army general is
appearing for a viva for PhD enrolment, sources said.

Professor Tyagi who at present teaches at the
Government Motilal Vigyan Mahavidyalaya (MVM) College here
confirmed that General Singh will be appearing for a viva to
be taken by the RDC in the Barkatullah Vishwavidyalaya.

He, however, refused to reveal any further details on
the issue citing security reasons.

Singh is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff
College, Wellington as well as the Rangers Course at Fort
Benning, USA and the US Army War College, Carlisle.
