Srinagar: Army on Saturday foiled an
infiltration bid from across the border by killing five
militants in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence
spokesperson said.

The troops sighted a group of heavily-armed militants
sneaking through Kalapahar, 125 km from here, the spokesperson
said.
The militants opened fire to which the army jawans
retaliated and in the ensuing firefight, five of the
infiltrators were killed, the spokesperson said, adding the
operation was on.

Official sources said the infiltrators had taken the
Lassabahak route to sneak in.
This bid gave credence to Intelligence reports that a
large number of militants are waiting ion the wings to cross
over to this side before the mountain peaks get blocked due to
snowfall.
