21:32 pm: Within hours of assuming office in the national capital, Kejriwal transferred Delhi Jal Board CEO Debashree Mukherjee to Delhi Transport Corporation.

Eight other IAS officers were also transferred after the new chief minister worked for six straight hours on day one.

20:49 After taking oath as Delhi's seventh chief minister, AAP convenor Arvind kejriwal met with Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi and discussed ways of improving the law and order situation, especially women's security in the national capital.

"We had a talk. I briefed him about Delhi Police while he told me about his concerns and his vision. We will work together to create a safe environment for Delhiites in the city. Focus will be on the vulnerable sections of the society, especially women," Bassi told reporters after meeting Kejriwal, reports PTI.

20:34 pm: Kejriwal rubbished the allegations of BJP leader Nitin Gadkari that a deal was brokered between AAP and Congress by an industrialist to form the government and asked him to provide evidence.

"This (claim) is all rubbish. It is sad to note that a senior leader like Gadkari is talking nonsense. If he is making claims, then he should also give evidence," Kejriwal told reporters here.

7:40 pm Sticking to his party's poll promises of cutting the power tariff rates by half and providing 700 litres of free water daily to all household, Kejriwal today urged the people of Delhi to be wait till next week.

"By Monday you will get some news," Kejriwal told the media.

5:39 pm: As Kejriwal is sworn-in as Delhi CM, JD(U) asks the government and the Opposition to make its lone party MLA Shoaib Iqbal, the senior-most legislator in the House, as Speaker in the state Assembly.

JD(U) general secretary Javed Raza told PTI, "Being the most senior member in the Assembly, Iqbal is already Pro-tem Speaker. He has been Deputy Speaker in the past and is currently the most senior member in the House. The ruling party and the Opposition should build consensus on his name and make him Speaker."

5:27 pm: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Saturday congratulated Arvind Kejriwal for becoming Delhi's chief minister and said it was sure his government will be industry friendly - IANS

The CII said it would work with the new government in areas such as employment creation, skill development, women’s empowerment and infrastructure development.

4:39 pm: Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, mentor to Arvind Kejriwal, congratulated his onetime protege on becoming the seventh Chief Minister of Delhi. In a message, Anna said that the "ultimate aim of politics is to serve the country," PTI reports.

Anna couldn't attend Kejriwal's swearing-in ceremony because of ill-health. "We have worked together for many years.... I congratulate you for taking the oath of Chief Minister today. I also congratulate others taking oath with you today," he told reporters at his village Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra.
