New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), it seems, has decided to take on BJP`s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi head on. As per reports, Arvind Kejriwal - AAP chief and former Delhi chief minister – will travel to Gujarat likely on March 8 and 9 and hold road shows ahead of the General Elections due by May. The development comes amidst speculation that Kejriwal may even contest the Lok Sabha polls against Modi, the current Gujarat chief minister. The AAP has decided to take the Lok Sabha battle right into Modi`s home turf following the realisation that its direct contest will be against the BJP and not the Congress, which is on a down-slide nationwide. Various opinion polls have predicted that the Congress party may not even cross the 100-seat mark in the impending Lok Sabha polls. The BJP, on the other hand, is likely to win over 200 seats. Of late, Kejriwal has been hitting out at Modi over funding of his rallies and helicopter rides. He also accused him of benefitting gas companies and being under the influence of Reliance chief Mukesh Ambani. “From where does Modi get so much money for his rallies? Who is paying for his helicopters?” the AAP chief asked at a rally in Rohtak on Sunday. Kejriwal is seeking to attack Modi primarily on two issues – corruption and communalism. While the 2002 Gujarat riots still continue to haunt Modi, the issue of absence of Lokayukta in Gujarat for nearly a decade, has brought enough flak to the CM.
