AS Bakshi appointed as interim CEA chairperson

The government has appointed Arvinder Singh Bakshi as interim chairperson of Central Electricity Authority (CEA).

New Delhi: The government has appointed
Arvinder Singh Bakshi as interim chairperson of Central
Electricity Authority (CEA).

The appointment of Bakshi, who is a Member (Planning) at
CEA, as interim chairperson is effective from July 1.
The post of CEA chairman had fallen vacant after the
retirement of its chief Gurdial Singh on June 30.

Sources said the government issued the letter saying the
charge of chairman has been entrusted with Bakshi on July 28.

Bakshi`s appointment would be for a period of six months
or till a new chairperson is appointed, sources said.

At the top level, CEA has six Members apart from the
chairperson. The Members take care of various areas including
planning, hydro, thermal, grid operation and distribution and
power system.
CEA is the nodal advisory body for the power sector and
is responsible for technical coordination and supervision of
various programmes, among others.
