New Delhi: Facing attack from Team Anna over
Lokpal issue, HRD minister Kapil Sibal on Thursday said an
environment of mistrust is extremely dangerous for any system
and having trust is the main challenge before Indian
democracy.
"What we are moving towards is going to create an
element of mistrust. Any environment of mistrust is extremely
dangerous for any system...If you lose the element of trust in
a democracy, you stand to get into trouble," Sibal said
delivering a lecture on "Governance and Citizenry" here.

The Union Minister at the same time made it clear that
his suggestion is no where related to any bill.
Addressing a function of Indian School of Business here,
Sibal said the real solution to corruption is use of
information technology in every aspect of the functioning of
civil society.

"You want to pay any insurance premium or want to
have tax rebate, you can get it through connectivity. Exclude
intermediaries from the system through technology. There is no
way other than this. Make sure there is no mismatch in any
sector of economy between demand and supply. Take care of
these things, ninety percent of the problems are solved," he
said.

"All stakeholders are important for us and you cannot
ignore any stakeholder," he added.

Talking about accountability, he said it is embedded in
our Constitution. "It is an integral part of the whole
Constitution process," he said.
