Bangalore: A local court Friday deferred BPO employee Pratibha Srikanthamurthy’s rape and murder case till September 27.

Contrary to the media buzz that a verdict is expected today, the Judge BV Guddali told a packed courtroom that the case is deferred for further hearing.

As per reports, the judge will now seek clarifications from both the prosecution and the defence.

Pratibha Srikanthamurthy was allegedly raped and murdered by a cab driver in December 2005.

The court had earlier on September 8 had postponed the case to today as the accused Shiva Kumar could not be produced in court due to illness. However, he was present in the court today.

The incident, in which Pratibha was allegedly raped and murdered, forced many BPO firms to have a relook at human resource management rules as the cab driver was employed by the firm.

So far 80 witnesses have been examined in the case.
