Jaipur: A desolate family languishing on a paltry pension of an old grandmother, a dead mother and an under-trial father; these are the only remnants of a family that was happy and prosperous not too long ago.
The family in picture is of Bhanwari Devi, the auxiliary nurse midwife who was murdered alleged over her illicit relationship with the rich and the powerful –she allegedly featured in a sleazy video with Congress minister Mahipal Maderna.
As per a newspaper report, ever since Bhanwari’s disappearance in September and subsequent murder, it has been a tale of abysmal agony for her three children living in Borunda village near Jodhpur.
Following Bhanvari’s murder, her husband Amarchand was arrested on charges of abetting the crime and accepting money for the same. Their eldest child Sahil, aged 18, has stopped going to college out of embarrassment and fear. One of the two daughters, Ashwini, 15, has been expelled from her school for being absent for over three months.
Their relatives stay nearby but do not visit the hapless family owing to the taint and stigma that has accompanied the family.
But their tale of owes doesn’t end there. The CBI, which is probing Bhanwari’s case suspects that the third child Suhani aged 7, was fathered by Malkhan Singh, Congress leader under arrest in the murder case.
Devoid of any parental support, the children stare at an uncertain future…
