Belgian national dies mid-air, plane makes emergency landing

A Belgian national Saturday died on board a Frankfurt-Singapore flight even as the plane made an emergency landing in the city after he suddenly fell ill mid-air.

board a Frankfurt-Singapore flight even as the plane made an
emergency landing in the city after he suddenly fell ill
mid-air.

The 75-year-old Robert Vanda Neynt, who was flying
along with his wife Mary in flight LH-778 of Lufthansa
airlines, fell ill when the plane was flying near the city
airport, sources in the NSC Bose International Airport here
said.

The flight, which was not scheduled to land here,
requested the Air Traffic Control (ATC) for an emergency
landing for Neynt`s treatment, which was granted.

However, the Belgian was dead by the time doctors at
the airport could see him after the emergency landing, they
said.

The body of Neynt has been sent for postmortem, the
sources said, adding his wife Mary remained with the body of
her husband while the plane resumed its journey later.
