Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Secretary Samar
Ghosh on Monday admitted that political clashes, including those
triggered by Maoist violence, in the state had increased in
the last two years.
"It is very much on record that political clashes mainly
triggered by Maoist violence have increased over the last two
years," Ghosh said replying to a question on differences
between law and order situation before the coming Assembly
election and that before the previous elections.
Even as the Chief Election Commissioner, S Y Quraishi,
expressed concern in Delhi over law and order in the state
describing it as `grave`, Ghosh declined to make any comment
Asked if he had received any communication from the
CEC in this regard, the chief secretary replied in the
